I used to think that Sea Change was in the transformation business – meaning we’d work with amazing non profits to transform the way they communicate with their donor and prospect audiences.

Now I realize we’re actually in the discovery business. We help non profits uncover their own brilliance by translating our expertise in research, fundraising psychology, language and storytelling into actionable and practical plans.

The goal — to engage more people authentically and raise more money without treating donors like ATMS — remains the same. The switch of frame — however — is helping me see my work through an entirely news lens.

Here’s to many more fresh starts in 2013!
