I turned 40 yesterday and I’m still not your target audience

I turned 40 yesterday! On Saturday, I had lovely karaoke party with my best friends and family. We celebrated my 40 years and toasted to the adventures to come.

I’m [sarcastic quote] “over the hill” and I’m still not your target audience.

Yes – it’s easy to forget that a majority of donors are well into their 60’s and 70’s. Of course, think about building relationships with me, but don’t count on my cohort raising the lion share of your revenue anytime soon.

We’re in the life stage where family, buying homes and building wealth are a priority. Philanthropy plays a role, but not a major one… yet.

Love on those boomers and seniors. Get cozy with us Gen X-ers. And give a warm handshake to the millennials. In that order.
