Anyone who knows my business partner Alia knows I am not exaggerating when I say she does the work of three people. Three top notch people.

I have often said that Alia is blessed with an unfair assemblage of talents, that range from creativity and artistry to bulletproof planning and management. Not to mention leadership.

So it’s not surprising, but really delightful, that in the midst of a busy Sea Change work season, Alia, along with her life partner Tim Walker, has launched a revolutionary project.

It’s called Lifeboat, and it’s about the meaning of friendship. That sounds simple and trite, but if you visit the site, you will realize that true friendship is both rare and often difficult to pull off.

One unwelcome side effect of the social media explosion is a devaluation of the idea of what it means to be a friend? How many of your Facebook “friends” are really your friends?

Thought so.

So in one sense Lifeboat is a giant step forward by taking a step back – to a time when virtual relationships were not supplanting the real thing.

If you do nothing else, check out the Getting Started guide. If you don’t learn at least three new things, you’re smarter than I am – not that that’s such a high bar.

Enjoy!
