Seth lays out the future by describing Web4 — the new new thing that may hopscotch web 3.0 (i have read 100 descriptions and still can’t tell you what that is) — and bring us all closer together.

I remember reading Stewart Brand’s The Media Lab (yes i have been a geek that long) and being really disturbed by the amount of energy being spent by those MIT nerds to replace human interaction rather than to enhance it.  Webs 2.0 and 4 seem deeply human in their aims — to connect people who care about one another, or care about the same things, and make it easier to act in concert.  Bring it on!
