Time was, you  pitched the New York Times, and if they ran your story, you’d be in the online edition and that would get you the online coverage you need.

That’s so 1999.  Studies are now confirming our growing suspicions that there is a significant — and growing — online-only readership, who can be reached without the print-to-web carom shot.  After all, most major papers publish far more content online than they publish in their dead tree editions, and that means many more bites at the online apple.
