Social networks spread goodness: The science of interdependence
Nicholas Christakis just blew my mind.
In this Ted Talk, he states that evolutionarily humans are super organisms, meaning the ties between people makes the whole greater and stronger than the sum of its parts.
We’re like bees working together to find the best spot for the hive or birds working together to navigate migratory paths. We thrive when we connect and collaborate.
He then stresses that because of our interdependence, we are evolutionarily programed to spread good and valuable things to keep those ties strong. We don’t want to get kicked out of the hive or the pack.
Our basic nature is to spread goodness.
Kind of gives me some hope during this political insanity. How about you?
