Earlier this week, Mark defined content marketing as, “creating stuff that people want to read, watch, engage with and share with friends.”

But for what aim?

Today, the folks at copyblogger sum that up nicely. “Content marketing is sales-minded storytelling.”

The goal of content marketing is to meet your business objectives — to write awesome content that people want to read, watch, engage with and share with friends in order to create quality leads, fundraise, sell a product, or advance your business in some other way.

If the content doesn’t advance the business agenda, it’s just writing — not content marketing.
